Dear Daddy

Daddy2
From Daddy’s Love Shoots

I love you round the world,
And back again,
All over the stormy sea.
I love you lots and jelly tots,
I hope that you love me.
I love you up,
I love you down,
I love your smile,
I love your frown,
I’ll love you ’till the end of time,
Oh Daddy I’m so glad you’re mine.

Daddy
From Daddy’s Hands

My dad turned 65 a few months ago. Never thought I’d miss him so much after living for 15 years on the other side of the world. He was not perfect, but looking back I do feel glad that he was my dad.

He never read fancy parenting books or followed any fancy parenting theories. He never talked much or explained what he felt or thought – he was a doer, not a talker. He simply was always there for me. He always accepted me and adored me the way I was without imposing any other ‘way’ on me. He always cared about me and made me feel that I mattered.

I wish we lived a bit closer to each other, so that he could simply be here for my children just the way he was there for me…

That is a beautiful piece, words and photographs. I felt very moved and thought of my own father. Thank you for sharing such deep emotions.

Beautiful images and words. Thank you. As a near 70 year old, I still crave conversations with my Dad long gone. And then there is the fragility of my mentor who is 97 this year. It recalls how short life is and how wondrous some of are connections are. And then there is the giggle aspect. . . After nearly 50 years of painting, I am being remembered more for the most modern of my creations . . .; a recent comic book entitled ” Please Daddy, Hold My Hand”. Thanks for reminding me that these are legitimate sentiments – to sense, to feel, to remember.

If you have dropbox, I can send a pdf file of Please Daddy Hold My Hand. to your dropbox. The story behind the story ? : I wrote Please Daddy Hold My Hand many years ago. I later mentored a young man who was excellent in the area of comic book drawings. He is now an adult and owns his own comic book business. This comic was our first collaboration as professionals. I wrote it, He illustrated the story. The comic is doing very well. For purchase it is available at : Mirror Comics @: http://www.mirrorcomics.com/hold-my-hand.html

Dad is a lovely soul, Dilip. So well said. Neither time nor distance can break such bonds. Even if we do not talk much, I can still feel my dad. Part of him lives in me.

  5. My daughter could have written this post. We are very close even though miles apart. Thanks

Glad to hear that you have such wonderful relationship with your daughter and that you both manage to maintain that relationship so well while living miles apart. That’s awesome.

My dad just turned 90. He’s so inspiring, even as I live far away from him, too. I am the mother I am, because of the father he was to me.

Thank you for stopping in at harmonyspearls I hope Brinkley’s story touched your heart. Peace to you.
