Smiles and tears…

Build for yourself a strong box
Fashion each part with care
When it’s as strong as your hand can make it
Put all your troubles there.

Hide there all thought of your failures
And each bitter cup that you quaff
Lock all your heartaches within it
Then sit on the lid and laugh.

Tell no one else its contents
Never its secrets tell
When you’ve dropped in your care and worry
Keep them forever there.

Hide them from sight so completely
That the world will never dream half;
Fasten the strong box securely
Then sit on the lid and laugh.

  1. That box is our heart of glass. Many can see us within it, but never understand our pain ❤️

    Gulp! To think others are to put off questioning stressful thoughts, locking their contents in a box and sitting on the lid. Sounds like a powder keg to me. I prefer to chop my troubles into small pieces with questioning validity and using the pieces as mulch, growing out of that, but maybe that’s what all gardeners do.

        A lot of things we think we cannot handle, if put out of site in a dark place and watered with tears, well they can grow like bacteria! Better I feel to occasionally say these sorts of things to myself “Hold on a minute stress, hasn’t the world and her great aunt seen you before? I bet there’s a flip side that holds just as much truth Pal so watch out, for once I’m done with you with this cloth of truth and wiping the floor with you, I’m gonna have a good laugh Mate!”
