“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake.”

20 years!!! You both are so lucky 🙂
Absolutely true!!
🙂
I love this! It is so incredibly true!!
Glad that you loved this post. This quote is so incredibly true, though it never came to my mind until I saw that quote today. Very well said.
Yeah me neither! Have a wonderful day!
Definitely my Mum, Gran and Best Friend!
You are so lucky to have so many ‘mirrors’ in your life. Hope they will always be there the support you ad guide you whenever you need 🙂
Most interesting!
When I came across this quote today, it struck me instantly as I never thought that way before. And it sounds so true. We all need such soul mates in our lives. Hope you have such soul mate in yours 🙂
Hopefully it’s our spouses, loved ones…but it’s probably our best friends we don’t have to live with. Mine is like that. No judgement, no secrets…etc. a romantic relationship (it’s a girl) would destroy all of that. 🙂
Very interesting point. Once a person becomes a spouse or ‘romantic interest’, she/he gets a ‘stake’ in your life, gets his/her own ‘interest’ – can that ‘distort’ the mirror?
Interestingly enough, the full quote goes like that: “A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave…”
I was not sure about the last bit of that quote, therefore initially published only the first one. However I can see that point now.

I came across this quote, long before and also read the part that you skipped. I disliked that part and hence didn’t post any part of it.
However, after coming across this in your blog, i felt that the later part wouldn’t be true in all cases.
And then i clicked on the like button 🙂
🙂
People enter and leave our lives for a reason – as we change, so do our mirrors. To expect ONE soulmate in a lifetime may be unrealistic. It would indeed be magical if there is one soulmate capable of being our mirror for our entire lifetime.
Very good point, Florence. We all do change over time.
@”Who is the mirror of your soul?” – our eyes, of course… 🙂
🙂
Perfect description, really wonderful.
Glad that you liked it, Jenni 🙂

“A true soul mate is a mirror…” Do you agree? Can you be your own soul mate?
