I believe there is a metaphor in play here. Can we men continue when our first choice is broken or taken away? The challenge to be as versatile is a good one.
I know I have been guilty of failing to accept a change in pre-agreed upon plan. I think this happens when the change involves going out of my comfort zone. I have at times been aware of strange behaviors where i think I am being compromised. Despite my belief that I am some sort of adjusted human being I am a creature of fear in many ways. Where i think I am flexible in reality I may not be. It is some thing I am very aware of in recent times. It is for that reason that I believe we are constantly growing, being made aware of our own actions and understanding the impact we have on others. I found myself in some self made difficult positions which I later berated myself over for being so inflexible and uptight. One thing I do need to learn is to take things as they come and not get wound up over the smallest insignificant thing. Hmmm….if you are questioning my flexibility it is not as flexible as I would like it to be. Not sure I have adequately addressed the question.
You can, Michael. All men and women can continue – though a good question is – to continue what and how? Do we continue doing the same things in the same way and getting the same outcomes or do we continue reinventing ourselves, learning from the past and thus changing our future?
The answer lies in the second question. To reinvent yourself is a learning process, it allows you to grow as you don’t stagnate and you mind is kept active. Most of my career has been about reinventing myself and on top of that trying to get better at what I do.
Now I have finished work i have to find another thing to try. It is important to be active in mind, and blogging does help with that.
I am exciited in many ways to see where my future takes me.
Love your idea about protecting wings. I wish we all could keep them forever. Unfortunately the wings tend to be too fragile. The combination of the wings and the broom might provide the ideal long-lasting solution 😉
