  1. This is a very powerful statement but why ‘weapon’?

    • Otrazhenie says:

The word ‘weapon’ can be understood in different ways. In this particular context, it can be understood as a ‘weapon of justice’ or ‘weapon of positive change’.

  2. Human soul on fire can influence others and work to change wrong, educate the ignorant, make a difference to the world in some small way.
We all would like to think that the work we do does make a difference to the lives of the people we have greatest influence over.
I am discovering that I have had a far greater influence than I ever imagined.
CHange can occur some times it is like attempting th impossible it just a little longer to achieve. Good post O.

  3. RiverPearl says:

I assume that the human soul on fire can cause destruction on Earth. Fire signifies fear, insecurity, pain… The weapon here is power… Those in power today are the ones causing destruction, killing the innocent…

Hm, I see you point. Very interesting interpretation of that quote.

Fire has been an important part of all cultures and religions from pre-history to modern day and was vital to the development of civilization. Fire is one of the four classical elements in ancient Greek philosophy and science. It was commonly associated with the qualities of energy, assertiveness, and passion. In one Greek myth, Prometheus stole fire from the gods to protect the otherwise helpless humans. Fire represents the creativity and passion that all intellectual and emotional beings have. As an example, Plutarch once said “The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.” 🙂

The same with the word ‘weapon’. In this particular context, I see it as a ‘weapon of justice’ or ‘weapon of positive change’.

Those in power who are causing destruction, killing the innocent can’t have ‘souls on fire’ because they have no souls at all. They are simply brutal selfish beasts. Only true humans possess souls 😉

  4. A powerful statement and image – and yes, it can go both ways: towards the positive, constructive or towards the negative and destructive powers. We each get to choose how we use that fire, once kindled.
